He is a craftsman, a businessman, a historian, and a passable break-dancer (if you give him enough room). Mark also holds a master’s degree in safety management from WVU's College of Business. He founded his company, Antique Cabins and Barns, in 1995. In 2016 he expanded that business into what is today known as Barnwood Living. He and his longtime crew have reclaimed more than 500 pioneer-era structures. Mark is passionate about honoring the craft of America’s pioneer ancestors and is devoted to ensure their hard work lives for centuries to come. Mark is currently filming season 7 of Barnwood Builders.

Join him as he shares his experiences, stories, and expertise in restoration and living life to the fullest.

Karen Tillery - Featured Designer on Barnwood Builders.

Karen is a wife and mom of four, a log cabin loving - designer and decorator, and the crazy queen of up- cycling everything possible. Karen is a Birmingham born southern girl and an Auburn University graduate with a degree in Graphic Design. Her career has spanned the gamut from an illustrator and designer with Oxmoor House Publishing, to a full time stay-at home mom and part time art teacher to owner of Restoration Log Cabin Rentals in North Alabama.  Karen’s business combines her passion for history and construction with her design skills by renovating and restoring 1800’s log cabins. Karen’s formal training in regards to color, balance and space partnered with 24 years of renovation and construction experience and 12 plus years of reinventing 1800’s log cabins, have given her a special insight into designing living spaces that are not only functional but comfortable and inviting. Karen’s fine art and illustration skills have given her the ability to draw concepts of her designs so that other people can see her vision before it is even a reality. When you love your job as much as Karen does, it hardly even seems like work!
